About
Systems architect. 20+ years designing enterprise platforms
I am a systems architect. For 20+ years I have designed and shipped enterprise platforms used by millions of people: monitoring systems, cloud services, streaming. Some of them run in more than 10,000 organizations.
I care about systems that hold up under load and that you can actually maintain afterwards. Technology on its own means little if it is unclear which business problem it solves. That is usually where I start.
Key achievements
Technical leadership
Owned the architecture of platforms with audiences of over 2 million users. Built and led engineering teams and made the technology decisions.
Enterprise impact
Built monitoring and security systems now deployed in thousands of organizations. Projects include a streaming service, an information-security platform, and cloud products.
High load
I have worked with high load for years: thousands of concurrent connections and low latency even at peak.
Performance and reliability
Performance and reliability are what I work on most. Plus mentoring within teams and managing technical risk.

My philosophy
“The best architecture is the one nobody remembers a year after launch: it just works. The bad one comes up every week.”
